For me, this rug is a snapshot frozen in time. I seem to be sentimental when it comes to salmon. This piece was inspired by the Siulslaw River that winds through the Coast Mountain Range and then spills into the Pacific Ocean in Florence, Oregon. Where the river widens out into a valley, there are stands of towering evergreen and snags that border the river. I imagine late summer or early fall spawning salmon resting in the cool shade near the edge of the river bank, as the raven's hoarse call echoes across the valley.
