I was in the mood to hook a big rug, a geometric, but I was afraid that I might lose interest if I didn't add some sort of flower motif, hence the tulips. Tulips are a universally recognized flower. They can be drawn primitively, and yet their essence still rings through as a noteworthy tulip. Originally, my goal was to use my already cut strips of reds and greens. I always hear other rug hookers say how this rug or that was hooked using their scraps of already cut wool. Well, I did use some scraps, but I couldn't resist the urge to cut new wool, if I couldn't find just the right color.
